Narrative

Iredell County, North Carolina book says:
In 1850, Gilpin and Patsy Eades bought their first tract of land, 103 acres, for $20.00. By 1877 they owned 580 acres for which they had paid $1100 .00. They built the first white two-story house with glass windows in the area.
They reared five girls: Elvinia, Jane, Amanda, Nancy and Consadie. They made their living farming and running a government distillery. Their tax-paid whiskey was taken by horse and wagon to the government owned saloon on Water Street in Statesville.
